Moving to Ghost??

This is kind of a big deal. I'm scared. It's a bold move.

I'm planning to move my entire website away from WordPress onto the Ghost platform. After deliberating for over a year, I kept coming back to Ghost, and decided to just go for it. I signed up for the Ghost Pro creator plan ($300/year) and reached out to their concierge migration service to help me get all my content onto their new platform.

I know it will be a challenge and I'll have to make some adjustments to the way I do things. Ghost doesn't do ecommerce out of the box, so I will have to find a different solution (like Shopify, Gumroad, or Lemon Squeezy). It does do memberships like Substack and Patreon though which could be a cool new way to build more of a community with my subscribers. Their CMS is just so much faster and more modern than WordPress I want to enjoy publishing content again.

Their conceirge team told me they could book me in for a migration "after the new year" and it would take about two weeks once they start it. I'm not exactly sure how this is going to go, and it could be a huge mistake if I mess it up. But I feel like it's at least worth a shot.

That's about all for this week. Have a great holiday! ✌️

Jeff

the WordPress drama continues

Hey Reader, Jeff here. I've got some updates for ya. First, I'm changing the frequency of my newsletter to one that feels more intuitive and genuine. And secondly, I'll share why I've stalled on my website design rebuild and how the latest WordPress drama is affecting me. I'll pat myself on the back for putting...

Hey Reader, A few weeks ago I created this "feeling states" meditation using an interval timer app on my phone. I wanted to build a custom timer to prompt me into "higher" states of being (such as gratitude, truth, peace) because it's so easy to just default into negative, critical, or cynical states of being. I've been really loving it and finding it useful so I thought I'd share it with you for free. My Feeling States Meditation Most meditation focuses on mindfulness or becoming the witness...

Hurricane Helene damage

Hey Reader, Man, it's been a wild week. Hurricane Helene hit, and we were fortunate enough to only experience minor damage here in southwest Ohio. We lost power for five hours and our internet connection for six days—a mild inconvenience compared to the devastation across the southeastern U.S. Damage from Hurricane Helene hits close to home Cara has family in western North Carolina, who fled their home in South Carolina to avoid the storm by retreating to their mountain cabin. Unfortunately,...
